Week 5 - 5th - 9th Oct

This week in Literacy, we will be reading our final Julia Donaldson Ladybird tale, 'What the Ladybird heard at the seaside'.

We will be using what we know from the other two stories to predict what we think will happen in this one. We will then be discussing the characters Heffty Hugh and Lanky Len, and create a wanted poster warning people about them. At the end of the week, we will be writing a thank you letter from the mermaid to the ladybird. For all of our writing, we will focus on the sounds we can hear in each word and use our phonic knowledge to write them down. We will also think about using finger spaces between each word in our sentences.

Week 4 - 28th Sept. - 2nd Oct.

This week in Literacy, we will be reading another of Julia Donaldson's Ladybird tales, 'What the Ladybird heard on Holiday'.

We will be using our Geography knowledge to work out which capital city in the UK the ladybird has visited by identifying some of the famous buildings and sights. We will think about the role of adjectives (describing words) to make sentences more interesting, then we will add some of our own adjectives into the story to describe some of the animals in the zoo (The fierce lion.) At the end of the week, we will be designing our own dogs and writing descriptive sentences using adjectives to describe them (My dog has long ears.). For all of our writing, we will focus on the sounds we can hear in each word and use our phonic knowledge to write them down. We will also think about using finger spaces between each word in our sentences.
