Week 5 - 30th Nov - 4th Dec - oo

 

This week we are learning the sound 'oo'. We use the ditty 'oo, oo, oo - poo at the zoo' to help to remember this sound. This phoneme is quite common and usually features in the middle of words. Have a go at reading the 'oo' words in the document below and decide if they are real or fake. Week 4 - 23rd - 27th November - oa

 

This week we are learning the sound 'oa'. We use the ditty 'oa, oa, oa - goat in a boat' to help to remember this sound. This phoneme is quite common and always features in the middle of words. Have a go at reading the 'oa' words in the document below and decide if they are real or fake. Week 3 - 16th - 20th November - igh

 

This week we are learning the sound 'igh'. We use the ditty 'igh, igh, igh - fly high' to help to remember this sound. This phoneme can feature at the end of a word (sigh or high) , or in the middle of words ending in 't' such as sight, night, fight and tight. Have a go at reading the 'igh' words in the document below and decide if they are real or fake. Week 2 - 9th - 13th November - ee

 

This week we are learning the sound 'ee'. We use the ditty 'ee, ee, ee - what can you see' to help to remember this sound. This is a common phoneme and features in the middle and at the end of words such as seen, bee, teeth and feet. Have a go at reading the 'ee' words in the document below and decide if they are real or fake. Challenge yourself with the writing task; can you write the 'ee' words shown in each picture?

 

Week 1 - 2nd - 6th November - ay

 

This week we are learning the sound 'ay'. We use the ditty 'ay, ay, ay - may I play' to help to remember this sound. This phoneme usually features at the end of words such as day, stay, pray and delay. There are some exceptions such as 'crayon' though so don't be tricked!
